What Can I Expect During the Dental Implant Process?
If you have any underlying oral health conditions, such as gum disease, we will treat those conditions and ensure you have properly healed prior to placing your implants. If you require a bone graft or sinus lift, we will perform those procedures in advance and monitor your healing to determine if you will be eligible for implants. We also perform any tooth extractions in advance as well, allowing time for your gums to heal in between procedures.
We perform all aspects of dental implant surgery in our office, including any preliminary procedures. We can provide you with a combination of oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide to ensure your comfort and help you remain relaxed. After using precise diagnostic imaging technology to map out the ideal location for your implants, we will create small incisions in those locations. The implants are then inserted into your jaw bone, along with an additive to promote growth. We will place a temporary restoration so that you maintain some functionality during the recovery period. Dental implants take up to six months to fully fuse to your jawbone, a process known as osseointegration. Once this process is complete, we can affix your permanent restoration to your implants.
